BUCHAREST – Moldova's Parliament on Thursday approved a new cabinet formed by presidential adviser Dorin Recean.
Recean's cabinet was voted in by 62 MPs, all from the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). Meanwhile, the opposition, made up of Socialist and Communist parties and the Ilan Shor Party, boycotted the vote.

All but four ministers from the previous government retained their former positions, while the number of government members remained unchanged at 17.

"A priority of the future government is peace and stability," said the prime minister-designate, presenting his government's program in the Parliament. "We are experiencing troubled times; we should cope with these challenges, consolidate defense capacity, and invest in the capacity of ensuring the public order."
Economic development is another priority for the new cabinet, he added.
Recean, 48, has held the position of presidential adviser in the national defense and security sector since Feb 2022. He was nominated as prime minister-designate by President Maia Sandu on Feb10, just hours after Natalia Gavrilita resigned from office as prime minister.
